The 1924 piece An Evening of the Book with the Protagonists (Вечер книги с действующими лицами) is a famous collaboration between the Russian Constructivist artists Varvara Stepanova (Costume and graohic design) and Alexander Rodchenko (Photography)
Staged in 1924, this was an agit-prop performance and pageant designed to promote the government's universal literacy campaign. The event featured performers dressed in Stepanova’s geometric, utilitarian "prozodezhda" (production clothing) portraying characters from pre- and post-revolutionary literature.
