About the artist:
Mihály Weinberger was the son of Dávid Weinberger and Róza Neu; the familyMagyarizedtheir name to Biró. He attended theRoyal Hungarian School of Applied Artsin Budapest . Between 1908 and 1910, Biró traveled to Munich, Berlin, and England, where he attendedanArts and Crafts workshop inChipping Campdenand won a prize in a poster competition held by the magazine*The Studio*. Biró worked in Budapest as a poster designer for both private companies and theHungarian Social Democratic Party. His first exhibition was held at the Budapest Artists' House in 1912.
