Filippo Tommaso Marinetti was born Emilio Angelo Carlo Marinetti on December 22, 1876. His father, Enrico, a lawyer, came from Voghera (Piedmont) and had moved to Alexandria in 1865 as a legal advisor to the Suez Canal Company . Amalia Grolli, Marinetti's mother, came from Milan .
