Oskar Schlemmer(bornSeptember 4,1888, inStuttgart; diedApril 13,1943, inBaden-Baden) was a Germanpainter,sculptor, andstage designer. From 1920 to 1929, he worked as a master at theBauhausinWeimarandDessauand designed itslogo. Schlemmer's works primarily explored the position of the human figure in space. During his main creative period from 1920 to 1932, he produced numerous paintings of stereometric figures and interlocking groups of figures, whose geometric and choreographic design reflects a striving for universal harmony.
