High quality reprint of a Bauhaus work by Hungarian Bauhaus artist and designer László Moholy-Nagy
The work appears to show the process of making a photogram, a technique Moholy-Nagy became famous for. Objects are placed directly on light-sensitive photographic paper and exposed to light, producing silhouettes, translucent shapes, and overlapping areas without using a camera.
Moholy-Nagy called these experiments essentially “painting with light.” He was interested less in conventional photography and more in light, transparency, movement, positive/negative space, and how photographic materials could create abstract compositions.

About the artist:
László Moholy-Nagy (July 20, 1895 – November 24, 1946) was a Hungarian painter and photographer as well as a professor in the Bauhaus school. He was highly influenced by constructivism and a strong advocate of the integration of technology and industry into the arts. The art critic Peter Schjeldahl called him "relentlessly experimental" because of his pioneering work in painting, drawing, photography, collage, sculpture, film, theater, and writing.
