c1950s Modernist compass leg school desk by James Leonard for ESA with reclaimed and restored elm top.

These work particularly well as side or coffee tables or even in a hallway.

James Leonard’s post-war industrial designs for ESA remain relatively unsung but are highly regarded within the design sector.

The tabletop is solid elm. Constructed from separate panels. Has been sanded and oiled. There are a few (light) age related marks in the wood which have been left to suit its character and age.

The cast alloy / magnesium framework and compass legs have been machine stripped and left in their raw finish which contrasts perfectly with the elm. The legs do taper inwards slightly.

Dimensions : 105cm W x 45cm D x 49cm H

A great TV prop or home feature.

Pale blue formica top with a few signs of wear where they’ve been stacked. . It’s also possible to re- top them with wooden top for a more antique look.

A design classic for any modernist collection. !Perfect for a hallway or display table.
